EN8DM is a bright drawn medium carbon steel, suitable for repetition machining, a free-cutting version of 080M40, or EN8. It can be heat treated for applications that demand superior properties to mild steel. By induction hardening EN8DM delivers added wear resistance, for applications that do not require welding.
Machinable in any condition, 212A42 application include the manufacturing of axles, bolts, shafts, studs, and automotive parts such as steering linkages.
EN8DM steel typically has a tensile strength of between 580 and 800 MPa, which is higher than EN8 steel. The hardness is usually between 170 and 240.
