The world has changed at a never before seen rate, as lockdown stopped much of the international trade.
At High Peak Steels we have seen both with our customers and more widely in UK manufacturing with business’ such as Rolls Royce who plan to double their UK aerospace engine production (Rolls-Royce announces £150m investment in UK aerospace facilities >), as well as moves by Renault to bring more manufacturing to the UK (Nissan reported to be in talks on making Renault models at Sunderland plant >).
The Chancellors commitment to Construction and measures being put in place is also good for UK manufacturers. Whilst High Peak Steels is not a beam supplier, our steel goes into many machined parts for construction. Not forgetting of course yellow goods and haulage which keep construction sites functioning with earth moving and materials supply. This is a major area for our customers and we are proud to be supplying steel where quality and reliability is critical, given that final components are going into JCB, Rolls Royce!!! JLR cars to name but a few.
HS2 – An estimated 400,000 supply chain contract opportunities for UK businesses will be created during Phase One of HS2, supporting thousands of jobs on site. We have already been involved in the initial stages of planning and prototype work so are really looking forward to our steel going into the full production of parts in the future
These are plans from some of the leaders of UK manufacturing, as well as working to shift to UK manufactured parts this can only be good for UK manufacturers.
At High Peak Steels we have made a commitment to continue our growth which has more than doubled in the last three years. Our investment in a new fleet, expansion of our head office facility and investment in new saws to provide an even faster service reinforces this. We also have regional depots to service and provide an even greater stock supply of bright and black bar; the steel grade materials where High Peak Steels are leaders in the UK.
Finally, next month we will be launching our new e-commerce website where buyers can purchase steel direct and on-line. Mark Thornley, Managing Director comments;
“We quickly realised going into lockdown that the market was changing, buyers were working remotely, often from home where usual working hours no longer existed, so we had to adapt to this. By offering e-commerce customers can receive all the usual benefits of trading with High Peak Steels, with materials advice and supporting technical sheets. We even have a video library where you can learn more about steel, making the right choice of grade for application and lots of other helpful guidance. It is our aim to be the leaders in supply of bright and black bar. The launch next month will offer on-line steel buying that is like no other service available”.
