It’s one game down and a great start for the England team. Overall, they looked impressive, moved the ball forward instead of going backwards as they did for so many years. The finishing certainly needs to improve, we won’t get the same number of chances against the bigger teams and when we do get them, we need to take full advantage. It was good to see two calm and collected finishes from Kane who saved the day. At times it was easy to mistake the match for WWE wrestling when Kane was pulled down twice, while Tunisia’s penalty was certainly dubious. Southgate wasn’t afraid to make positive changes to win the game, with the substitutions lifting the team for the last ten minutes. Overall, a well deserved result, getting the country on a high for the next game.
